To Agnes (Mum) RIP 12th October 1921 - 15th July 2013 The Robin and the Blackbird - for Agnes Barnard by AlliB The things she loved were simple and few The Flowers, the Robin, the Blackbird too Her garden was filled with her favourite flowers The daffs and the roses the branches and bowers But the Robin and Blackbird always stayed near To fill her heart and dampen her fear, that her love had gone and forgotten her life But around her he stayed through trouble and strife The Robin he sang, the Blackbird he flew Arriving each morning, along with the dew Once fed and watered they flew away But always returned the following day She was sure that a sign had been sent from above So close yet so far, through grief and through love Was it the man so deep in our heart’s Ripped from our lives, our souls torn apart So close did he feel that life passed her by, whilst watching the birds soaring up high Her love for her family and friends did not wane Through trouble and illness, through hurt and through pain But now she has gone, her memory raw But look to the sky at the birds as they soar A Mum and a Dad you will see in the sky A Robin, a Blackbird, way up high As parents they covered their family with love And now looking down from the heavens above, they watch and they follow, their motive is clear We love you forever and will always be near
