To My Republican Friends: Today marks an important milestone in the proposal for the Keystone Pipeline. However, rather than celebration of the good news all Im reading is criticism of the President. First, in this world we do not influence opposing views by degrading them. In fact, more often, degrading another will lead to heightened animosity and stonewall progress. Second, prudence and discipline are demonstrated in study and observation... And all of these tenets should be conservative principles. Third, stopping the Keystone Pipeline would not result in ending oil drilling in Canada. Fourth, transportation through a pipeline is 28% cleaner than other forms of transportation. So, please take a page out of Dale Carnegies playbook and figure out how to influence the the opposition into adopting your point of view, rather than degrading their point of view. This is done by applauding the Presidents prudence in examining the issue and highlighting the facts that support the Pipelines case. This will not only help to move your cause forward, but it may actually stop turning people off on the nature of Republican Politics. Very Truly Yours, Anthony J.
