To Whom It May Concern: It has come to my attention that some people have decided to spread rumors concerning me and the Hebron Soccer Club concession stand. I have NEVER used proceeds from the concession stand to purchase anything for personal use, nor have I used funds for any personal gain. The TRUTH is that my family and I donated 20-30 hours per week planning, purchasing, preparing, cooking, loading, setting up, running the stand, tearing down, storing, and cleaning in order to make a profit for the Hebron Soccer Club. As a member of the Board 2 ½ years ago, I pointed out that money was “being left on the table” as we were not providing a concession stand during our games or for those who “rented” our fields. I was informed that no one wanted to be in charge, and they felt it was too difficult to get parents to show up to help. So I agreed to run a concession stand. The ORIGINAL agreement between the Board and I was that solely I would be responsible for the concession stand operations and that the money I made would go only toward the building of a permanent, “turn-key” concession stand for the club. To that end, I was set up with $331 as “seed money” in a separate checking account, along with another Board member on the account, to ensure that concession stand funds would not be used as “general funds” in an emergency or for other purposes than what the Board and I had agreed to: building a concession stand. During the past 5 seasons, or 2 ½ years, I was coerced by the Board into writing a check for $700 to buy a lawn mower because the general fund was not sufficiently maintained. I further had the opportunity to pay $700 (thank you Peggy and Brown Trucking for your generous discount!) for gravel for the driveway and barn with the goal of bringing the floor “up to grade” so we could get electricity and prepare to have a cement floor poured. I was not in charge of construction planning, but it seemed like things were starting to move forward again, especially with the knowledge of my most profitable season just months away. All in all, at the time of my resignation this month, I had made a PROFIT of nearly $3,000 for the soccer club. With the exception of one receipt and one cancelled check which I found this week, the Board has been given all financial records. Should I discover just who is spreading these false and malicious rumors, I will NOT hesitate to sue you for slander seeking an obscene amount of money for the damage done to my reputation. Should I discover that you have put any of your defamatory accusations in writing, through social media, email or elsewhere, I will sue you for libel as well. -Becky Vaughan
