“To a philosopher all news, as it is called, is gossip.” Henry David Thoreau We hear people all the time complaining about all the horrors that are happening in the world and even though a lot of times they have no control over those situations, they still choose to talk about it and waste all of their energy in that direction. People love to watch the news and all other toxic TV Shows, and then, they gather around to talk about it even more. What’s there to talk about? What’s done is done. If you have solutions to any of those problems, O.K. but if you don’t, why would you choose to waste your precious time and energy in that direction? If you are like me and you try to stay away from these kind of situations as much as possible, and if by any chance it happens to you to get caught up in a conversation of this kind, try to get away as fast as possible. I am no longer interested in all of their drama and in all the garbage that the mass media is presenting to us and I can tell you that I am a lot happier now and more at peace, with myself and the whole world. Don’t get me wrong, I still watch the news, I still read the newspaper, but a lot of times I just go online and I choose what to read and what to watch, and I suggest you do the same thing. People don’t realize the effect that all of this is having on them and the whole world if you ask me. Remember the Maharishi Effect ? The same thing we are doing here, creating more drama, more conflict, suffering, anxiety, pain etc. , in the world just because we feel it in our heart, in our bodies and because we believe that the worst is yet to come, and because of these destructive beliefs, we create a hostile world, for ourselves and our children. We have a choice, and it’s up to us to choose whether we want to live in a friendly, peaceful, serene and loving world, or a hostile, aggressive world, and based on these choices we will build our lives and the world we choose to live in. I can tell you that I was raised in a very “hostile world” and although it wasn’t always easy, I managed to escape that world, and I am no longer interested in going back even though it’s not always easy with all the problems that everybody around me is having and all their negativity. I have created a new world for myself and every time somebody would try to pull me back in that world, I would tell them that I am not interested and if they want, they can step into my world, and that I will be more than happy to spend time with them. I know a lot of them think I’m crazy and even though at first I had a hard time because of that, now, I no longer let it bother me because I know that how I feel, and what I believe makes sense for me. “Neither believe nor reject anything, because any other persons, or description of persons, have rejected or believed it. Your own reason is the only oracle given you by heaven, and you are answerable, not for the rightness, but uprightness of the decision.” Thomas Jefferson According to many, being negative means being realistic, being a normal person while feeling good about yourself, being content with who you are and the world around you makes you a crazy person. I would rather be crazy if that’s what it takes to be called a “normal person.” The conclusion? If you want to be happy, joyful and content, choose to focus your attention on those things that make you feel that way and always remember that your thoughts create your reality. Where focus goes energy flows, and the moment you choose to focus your attention on all that is going wrong, on all that is negative, you will attract a lot of pain in your life, having so many things to stress, worry and complain about for as long as you’ll live. It’s up to you to choose the life you want to live and how you want to feel, knowing that your emotions are the body’s reaction to your mind. “No one saves us but ourselves. no one can and no one may. we ourselves must walk the path.” Buddha
