To all LAVC student clubs and club members participating in the Wednesdays ICC Club Day: We will need individuals to perform the following canvassing activates this Monday and Tuesday in order to promote the upcoming club day for the Philippine relief effort. 1. To all club members, please during your classes, politely ask your professors for a minute at the beginning or end of class to inform the class of the events this Wednesday. I will be including our press release for you to reference. Please encourage your classmates to spread the word, as these are our friends, our neighbors, and they are in desperate need of our help, and that every little bit will help. Please remind them that if they cannot attend the club day, there will be a collection box at the ASU offices where they can make a donation (only monetary donations at this time, cash or checks/money orders made out to ROMAH Foundation, Inc.) 2. We will need canvassers to take the pamphlets we have made, and distribute them to the student body. We will be delivering as many as we can to the individual clubs, but also there will be stacks available at the ASU office. Please take the time between classes to seek out students; preferably those that you know to or believe may have family or friends affected by this disaster, and inform them of our event. Thank you, and if you have any questions please contact me immediately: Michael Suskin ASU Commissioner of Political Affairs 805-402-6649 lavcpolitics@gmail Press release: The Los Angeles Valley College Associated Student Union and the Inter-Club Council will be holding a special event on their upcoming club day on Wednesday, November 20th to raise funds in support of the relief effort in the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan. The ICC will be donating 100% of all the proceeds gathered on Wednesday to the ROMAH Foundation, a local non-profit organization, who is tirelessly working to help in the rebuilding of their homeland and helping those who have lost so much to this tragedy. We will be working with the ROMAH Foundation to help individuals in the community here send messages to their families in the Philippines that they have lost contact with. Those students at LAVC and in the community can come to our information booth at the ICC event and provide information on their family member’s last known whereabouts and any messages they would like to send, and we will do our best to find them and establish communication between those family members.
