To all concerned, (and we should ALL be concerned.) This, of course, is not a new story yet no less frustrating for each of us that have been harassed, bullied, over-billed, lied-to and trespassed upon by BC Hydro… From the beginning I did not want a Smart Meter and refused to agree to any of the options available. I let BC Hydro know this through a legal letter and numerous, long telephone calls. I am on the list of difficult customers, so I have been told… BC Hydro employees seem convinced that Smart Meters are just swell! No, theres no harmfulness about them. Your privacy is sacred! Everyone WILL have one... I had success (only once) in emailing a photo of my digital meter for billing. The next time I tried the email address no longer existed. Now my bill is estimated and on the high side. Weird. I had no problem with sending the information to them. I am happy to. Where do I start with the LEGACY METER CHARGE?! Heres the kicker… SMART METERS DO NOT WORK WHERE I LIVE! There is no existing infrastructure for them in my rural area. I am being billed (and taxed!) for not having something that doesnt work here. It is mind-bogglingly ridiculous. I specifically moved to this area because there was no cell phone service. I do not have a cell phone or use wifi. I have never had a microwave oven and use a telephone with a cord. (I do not have a tinfoil hat and hope it will not come to that!) Now I lay sleepless at night because I have taken it upon myself to subtract this imaginary fee from my bill… *Will I get a bad credit rating? *Will my power be cut off? *Will I wake up one day to find a Smart Meter installed on my property without my consent? *Will I be forced to pay a Legacy Meter charge for a while until they deem my meter expired and replace it with a Smart Meter, anyway? I DO NOT TRUST THEM! I just put power to my house 3 years ago. It cost almost $26,000 to come 3 poles in from the highway. If I had any idea that this calamity was looming in the near future I would have stayed off-grid and put that money toward a different source of power. I am sorry that I didnt. Now I am stuck. I have joined the class action lawsuit and have read all of the articles and watched all of the videos about fire, health and privacy concerns regarding these meters. I have written emails and sent letters and spent hours on the phone. So much of my time and energy has been taken up with this ridiculous affair and I am sure there are thousands of others in the same situation. I am hoping that together we can win this senseless struggle. Thank You for time,
