To all my cyber banking and security pro peeps. a question on credit card fraud. How does a credit/debit card end up being used in a Kroger store in Milford? Dont you have to have an actual card to swipe and a PIN number to use a credit/debit card. I certainly thought so. I had called my bank today for one reason or another and the balance in my checking account was way below what it should be. Went to my banks website to check out my statement and lo and behold........ $170 had gone missing, being spent in the Kroger store in Milford. WTF???? I still have my old credit card in my wallet, but somehow somebody used it to steal my hard earned money. My husband, who is more of a conspiracy theorist than i am sometimes, offers this scenario. Our banks ATM machine was down for repairs Sunday, so we went across the street to use the Chase ATM machine to get money. My husband tried his card first and the machine refused it. Dont know why because he did have money in his account. We tried mine and it worked and I got my money. That was on Sunday. My money went missing on Wednesday. He thinks that somebody with a telephoto camera or something like that was watching the machine. His card was not used because it didnt work. Mine went through and my money went missing. Chase is getting a phone call from me first thing in the morning. Or maybe Ill go in person. I havent had a good customer service fit in ages. J/K. Ill be nice. So now, according to Kroger and their loss prevention people, I need to file a police report here, fill out a dispute form, and a couple of other things and then they can review the video tapes from the recorders that they have over every register. I dont think most placed expect to get a phone call from an irate person regarding a stolen (?) credit card. I hope whoever it is gets put in jail for a very long time.
