To all my dear friends and customers, On Thursday, 4th of July, we will be closed ‘til Tuesday, July 9th. I need this time to share my heartfelt love to you all, and also to let you know where I’ve been in the last 12 months. And why? Because you matter to me! There are no simple words to express my shattered heart because of what happened 1 year ago, how I will never forget the painful, awful, and devastating news that came to my door on Monday, July 8th, 2012, that horrible night when my precious Son died!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never ever be whole as long as I live, knowing that I will not be able to hold my Beautiful Son in my arms and tell Him, “Darling, I love You too much!” The words I would tell Him each and every day that we lived together as a loving family! I now walk each day with pain in my heart, wishing He would walk in the cafe or at home. My Darling Rafael I miss you so desperately! Of course my life is forever changed as a result of my Son Rafael’s death ~ I know now there is nothing, nothing as painful as losing a child. After all, we are not supposed to outlive our children, are we? It goes completely against the natural order of things, it is so terribly unjust, and it is so very hard to accept. I know now that I must continue, so that I will keep the memories of my beautiful Rafael and the love he had for you all, especially here at the cafe where his contributions were so amazing and impactful! Rafael is our beloved Son, Brother, and Friend. Well, I will close for now, and I do hope you will come and see us here at the cafe! Also, thank you to all who have supported us through this difficult time. Your love is part of my healing. Love, Annette
