To all my family and friends....I am home. We (my bro-in-law & I) - TopicsExpress

To all my family and friends....I am home. We (my bro-in-law & I) arrived home last night around 730pm. I am up writing this because I could not sleep. I want to thank you - in advance - for all of the prayers, etc. Here is what I/we went through in the past 3 days. Left home @5am last Monday, arrived in Portland about 1030/1100 am. I had a1230 CT scan, Pre-op with my surgeon, and a pre-op with the nurses, etc. As we arrived very early, they did the CT early. Then we had lunch and the 1st pre-op. I was apparently slightly off in my earlier posts about the drain tube. I do have the drain tube but not for the reason I thought. Tuesday morning @ 730am I went under the knife. The surgeon, with very capable hands (and the guidance of God) removed the tumor and the top one third (1/3) of my shoulder blade. She is pretty sure she got it all but is waiting on a report. The earlier CT scan, also, identified a new spot near my shoulder blade of unknown composition. This new spot will be assessed by my cancer doctor here in my town and I may need radiation, this is a wait and see as I have to call him first. Anyway, the drain tube was inserted after the surgery. For most of Tuesday I was in and out and slept a lot. The surgery took about 3 hours and obviously I came through with flying colors....naw....yall are reading the writings of a ghost....LOL. Late Tuesday night, I was able to get up and walk around the unit I was in which totally surprised my nurse and I did great. Wednesday morning about 5am, the surgeons assistant came in to see me (as he had another early morning surgery) and told me I could possibly go home today. The surgeon came in sometime later and told me I would go home today due to my progress. I, also, had Physical Therapy come in for a visit and, again, surprised the two ladies with the range of motion I had and didnt need much in the way of therapy. The only down side (which isnt for me) is that in maybe one year I may have 80% use of the left arm and shoulder. Yall know the pain scale of 1 to 10, for me what someone else would call a 10 I call a 7. I am one of those who has a high pain threshold. The shoulder hurts some right now but nothing I cant deal with as its about a 4. But that depends on how much I use or move the arm. To make a long story short, I am here, I made it, and I survived all due to my faith in Jesus. I had given this to Him days earlier and He came through for me.
