To all my wonderful & extremely kind friends out there. Please read below and then like, share and donate if you can. I know there are so many worthy causes out there but this touches me on so many levels. As a mother of a teenage daughter, I can absolutely bare testament to what these guys do. These Girl Guides ( who are mainly from child headed households) are taught so many wonderful life skills and included in so many fun activities that allow them to escape the pressures and hardships associated with their daily existence. Ultimately it would be wonderful if a company could "adopt" this project. If anyone is interested in donating or learning more please let me know. The Rays of Hope Guide Company was started at the Ikhya Lomusa Orphanage to cater for girls between the ages of 10 and 14 and teach them Guiding skills. These include leadership training, how to be a good citizen, team building, health education and outdoor skills. It also includes girls from the Rays of Hope Child Headed Household programme. Rays of Hope provides transport to Ikhya Lomusa from Alexandra and when we have a camp or day outing they supply the food. Once a year Guide Companies have to pay membership fees to the national organisation. This amounts to R1 200 for the company plus R360 for the guider, all other funds provide for outings and fun activities.
