To all my wonderful veteran friends who plan to file a claim for disability benefits with the VA, here are some pointers: 1. Infection is too generic. Please specify. 2. Type your claim or write legibly. Have someone proofread your form before submitting it. 3. Avoid using abbreviations or acronyms. 4. Talk to a representative from a veterans service organization (DAV, VFW, American Legion, etc) to learn about the compensation benefits process.
