To all of the Network Partners of the Alabama Rescue Relay: This - TopicsExpress

To all of the Network Partners of the Alabama Rescue Relay: This was a very successful weekend (2/14-16) for the Alabama Rescue Relay and its network partners. We stated on Friday when our member in Winfield sent 13 dogs on a plane to Tampa and followed up with 7 dogs on Saturday being sent to northern rescues. ARR and its network partners met in Enterprise, Alabama at the local airport and, with the always helpful pilots of Pilots N Paws, transported 87 dogs in 3 planes to Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach and St. Augustine, Florida. The PNP pilots not only flew dogs south, they brought with them 6 cockers and 1 poodle. My wife and I drove them home to Hoover where we sent 1 cocker and the poodle to a foster, overnighted the 5 remaining cockers and then on Sunday morning sent them on their way to the national cocker rescue in Louisville run with our ARR drivers driving to Nashville to transfer the cockers to the cocker rescue. That was 114 dogs in 3 days. Those 114 dogs brings ARR’s, and its partners’, total number of dogs transported from January 1, 2014 to February 16th to 478 dogs. ARR thanks all its volunteers for ARR achieving such success in this period of time. For those members of your communities, who do not know who the Alabama Rescue Relay is, tell them we are a group of volunteer drivers, shelters and rescues located throughout Alabama saving dogs from kill shelters. We went from an informal group to an incorporated organization in November, 2013. ARR is in process of filing our IRS 501(c)3 paperwork. As a growing organization, ARR seeks more volunteers so we may save more dogs. Please inform them that they can find us on the Yahoo Group section by typing “alabamarescuerelay.,” and on Facebook under Alabama Rescue Relay. We are in the process of creating a web page too. Our email is alabamarescuerelay@gmail. Donations from your communities to offset the cost of gasoline can be made on PayPal by identifying us under alabamarescuerelay@gmail. If any of you have not yet done so, please join ARRs Yahoo Group and encourage your volunteers to also do so. ARR has posted your transportation needs and we will expanding the postings on ARRs Facebook page and our soon to be created web page. On behalf of Becky and the board of the ARR, thank you for all you are doing. The more volunteers and donations we get, the more rescued dogs of Alabama we save. And remember, its less than two weeks, March 1st, when we meet in Bainbridge, GA to hopefully send 200+ on to Florida on the 13+ planes provided by our friends at Pilot N Paws. Jeff Bennet has recruited a lot of new pilots for this event and we hope to show them ARR is a worthy rescue transport organization to continue to fly for. Eric Taylor, Secretary of ARR and the moderator of ARR’s Yahoo Group page - alabamarescuerelay.
