To all who love college, and especially AU and UA, football here is something to think about from a blog I read this weekend. Here are some questions to ask yourself to understand the true passion in your life. •If I were to ask your co-workers about your greatest passion—would they say it was Jesus or your team? •If I were to ask your child who or what it is your love—would they say it was Jesus or your team? •If I were to ask you to quote the number of Bible verses that you have memorized—could you give me more verses than stats, facts, or starting lineups for your favorite team? •When you attend the game—do you find yourself singing, chanting, or shouting words that you would not use at church? (FYI, for the non-sports fan, there are words in many of the fight songs and chants that are curse words.) •If the games were suddenly moved to Sunday morning—would you attend the game or come worship Jesus with the Bride of Christ? •If the Iron Bowl were moved to Sunday morning—would you even have to think about it? •If you are away at the game and can’t get back for Sunday–do you attend a local church in that town? •If I were to look at your bumper, listen to your ring tone, or look at your reading material–would it point me to a team or to Jesus? •If I were to look at the amount of money you spend on tickets, travel, food, and clothing centered on your favorite team—would it be greater than the amount of money you give to the Kingdom of God?
