To anyone interested in conserving White Park as a green space, or is concerned about the rapid development of trails in the park, I want to spread the word that decisions are in the process of being made about the parks future. As it stands, BOPARC created a White Park Trails Committee because of concerns I raised in March and April of this year. However, the committee has been primarily attended by mountain bike interests, and their views of the use of the trails seems to taking the lead. I have attended as many of these meetings as I could, and I feel that my concerns about unchecked development and conservation are taking a back seat to the interests of the biking community. If you are interested in conservation of the park, erosion caused by the new trails, invasive species of plants taking over, and the safety of pedestrians, it is time to make your voice heard before decisions are made for you. The next BOPARC meeting is Thursday October 23 at 5PM at Marilla Center this coming week. Or you can write to BOPARC, their contact info is in their website. boparc.org/
