To celebrate this wonderful day of chocolate bunnies, I am -posting myfavorite bunny story! Weighing in at an astonishing 49lbs and stretching to a length of 4ft 3in from nose to puffy tail, Darius is the world’s most humongous bunny! He is only just over 2 years old and his owner Annette Edwards plans to bulk up the bunny another 7lbs! “The frightening thing is that Darius is still growing so he could be absolutely massive by the time he reaches full size…He could grow another four to six inches,” Edwards said. “It’s quite scary.” Darius takes in an average of 12 carrots a day among other munchies (hay, cabbage, apples and rabbit mix) – which I’m sure makes the local grocer very happy. Ms Edwards, from Worcester, England has bred big bunnies before but Darius is the largest in the history of rabbit-kind. A life-long rabbit fan, Edwards’ pets just seem to bounce into the record book. Another of her rabbits, Alice, had held the record before Darius. Before Alice, there was Amy and before Amy, there was Roberto. Darius is insured for $1.6 million, has an agent and travels with a bodyguard who reportedly makes about $100,000 a year just to wrangle a rabbit. (man, I’m really in the wrong line of work..) “Darius is now on tour all over the world. He’s bringing out a book for children. You know, I’m quite jealous,” Edwards said with mock annoyance. “He’s actually taken over me. I’m a professional model, and he’s having more fame than me. It’s not fair.”
