To counter the Hobby Lobby decision, Senators Patty Murray (D-WA) and Mark Udall (D-CO) introduced a bill yesterday which would largely reverse the effects of last week’s Supreme Court ruling. “After five justices decided last week that an employer’s personal views can interfere with women’s access to essential health services, we in Congress need to act quickly to right this wrong,” Murray said in a statement yesterday. “This bicameral legislation will ensure that no CEO or corporation can come between people and their guaranteed access to health care, period.” Note: The Supreme Court decision did not in any way restrict a womans right to any type of birth control legally offered prior to their decision. The only thing it did was to allow the employer his and/or her 1st amendment rights and because of their religious beliefs opt out of paying for it.
