To everyone who has been following us raising Lunar, we would like to thank you for your support. Unfortunately it was not meant to be, and surrounded by his whole "herd" sadly passed away in our arms yesterday afternoon after getting sick about 3 weeks ago. He was a fighter and taught us so much! He provided us with detailed insight and endless information, this will make an enormous difference in the crucial first 7 weeks to future orphans that did not receive colostrum. We want to thanks Garden Route Game Lodge for giving Lunar a chance at living, and giving us the opertunity to share his few precious weeks with him. We also want to thanks his Vets - Hendrik, Andrie, Greg and Brendon! We want to say special thank you to his "herd" who spent the last 3 weeks on 24 hour shifts, Hein, Kim, Lume. Kellyn, Anna and Christina who loved him like their own. He was truely loved. He was berried with Kidibone and we take comfort in the fact that he has returned to his real mother. If anyone ever needs information on raising a baby elephant, please contact us. Lunar will always be our baby, born under the full moon, loved by a herd and who returned to the stars.
