To feel satisfied, look closely at where youve placed your expectation Please read this from my January writings There was an imaginary man that lived a relatively good and happy life until the car wreck in his thirties. His recovery and rehab was complicated by his lose of sight. The stress of the ordeal left him alone without a life companion. During the long months of recovery there was a consistent sweet voice of his caregiver. She brought the sunshine each day, she never failed to give him the description of the sights around him, all she saw was beauty and joy. Her touch was kind and loving. His recovery moved rapidly after she was introduced into his life. When it was time for discharge from hospital they decided to visit at a social level for dinner occasionally. Their relationship grew, marriage followed and things were well. The next year he was told by his doctor of a new experimental procedure that could help the damaged nerves regrow and restore his sight. To have this procedure was his new desire. The procedure went well, again recovery was amazing with his love at his side. The bandages came off and he focused on the face of the nurse in the room, and asked where his wife was. The nurse was kind, she was about sixty and had age related changes to her features, and some facial droop from a previous stroke. She answered him, why I am right here, cant you see? Had his attachment been to the imaginary physical beauty that would seemingly match the wonderful woman he had married in his blindness; now would have been his plunge into disappoint. If his attachment was to the love and kindness that had flowed so freely, his feelings would be the satisfaction of seeing the face of his beloved. We in our blindness desire to see the face of God, who tells us that while we dwell in our ego and flesh it will be too much for us to endure and so will we dwell in disappointment at his answer? Are our attachments to the presence of grace and love; or to a picture in our minds that we have created. This is our choice that will accompany our desire SB
