To my friends whove gotten rid of their Comcast or Dish TV - TopicsExpress

To my friends whove gotten rid of their Comcast or Dish TV service: I got a new cellphone for Christmas. This evening, I was playing with setting up an app I just noticed that makes my phone act like a TV remote control. In addition to configuring it to operate my TV, the app also had me set up what my TV service is (over-the-air in Denver) in a few relatively easy steps. Cool, right? Well, what blew my mind was that all of a sudden I was able to control my TV by THE SHOWS THAT WERE ON (oh, yeah, I think Ill watch that documentary on channel 12 PBS on the restoration of a boat that I wouldnt have known about otherwise...). The app had a list of icons for the shows... and each show had a synopsis, too! The lack of an on-screen TV programming guide (like with cable) has been my one lone gripe with cutting the cord. Problem solved. The caveat on this story as it pertains to you is that the app was preinstalled on my phone (a Samsung Galaxy Note 4). I dont know what comparable apps are available on Google Play or the Apple Store but if you can get one that works on your phone do because it will completely change your awareness of whats available on the surprisingly rich over-the-air programming. (Yes, I know about that over-the-air TV guide channel. Its useless to me because I get very poor reception on that channel.) Hopefully, this isnt dreadfully old news to most of you whove cut the cord this past year. And... COMCAST CAN GO SUCK IT! YEAH!!! Aint tech cool?
