To the President, Premiers and Mayors As we approach the State of the Nation, State of the Provinces and the State of the City addresses in February and March As government I think we are not moving with speed with Technology and investing in broadband. One of the thing that I want the President, Premiers and Mayors to touch on are the following. -Fast broadband Internet connection. This will increase competition and serve as a catalyst for the economy and investment. -More protection against Cyber crime -TV Digital Migration from analog. We have lost an opportunity to meet the deadline in this regard. Other African states are already implementing this before the deadline sit by the international bodies. -Paperless government, all departments and municipalities should be digital. -Freeing the Spectrum for Cellphone company which will lead to cheaper voice and data prices. -speed up the provision of free wifi by municipalities to the communities. All public facilities (clinic, parks, libraries, community halls, municipal offices) and Metro buses should have free wifi. Internet connection should be declared a basic service in the future like water, sanitation and refuse removal. Municipalities must champion that process.
