To the rescue “When two Elephants fight, the grass suffers. Ubakala secondary school Nsukwe Umuahia south local government area of Abia state Nigeria, is a great secondary school situated at the boundaries of two great autonomous community in Ubakala, namely Nsukwe and Umuogu” As a matter of fact, this school has produced great and noble men and women in our society, one unique thing about this school is that it is one of the oldest schools in Umuahia geographical area and has served her people faithfully. This school has been a bed rock educational institution for Ubakala people and has produced great teachers and principals, doctors, lawyers, bankers, engineers, great politician etc. Yet sadness lies in the heart and faces of those who have been there recently to see a dilapidated school structures. We beckon on Niger delta development commission (NDDC) and other structural bodies’ in charge of educational development to please come to our rescue. We also appeal to our dear patriots in USA and other countries who are seeking to identify with projects down home to rather continue with the renovations of this very School they started years back. We also call on all our worthy sons and daughters at home and especially the “umu ada” to come to our rescue. No person who will actually see this school structures and cry not, the school has become a home for rapist, cultism and other nefarious activities carried out in this school. Our children are no longer save studying under the school roof and environment; it has become a den for lions and other wild dangerous creatures. The present government is not helping at all, yet it is been sang in her state, that a lot of schools and majors have been rehabilitated. Oh yes! The so-called government is richly known in painting schools that stays on the road side to be seen and praised of men, what about the major schools in villages no one know or hear of them. Our beloved sons and daughters, the great and noblest of all, if you don’t know, let’s unfold the mystery to you. The present power (government) indirectly tells you that Nsukwe is yours, so therefore do what suits you. Fix it or leave it, until we realize this fact, there will be continuous records of rape cases, cultism and other murderous and nefarious practices in our God given school. A little contribution will do if we come together as individuals and community to rescue and give our children befitting education in a protective society and very comfortable class rooms with good school environment. It is a shame before us that our children study in such an environment. And to some, for fear sends their children to study abroad, yet fails to understand the rhyming of this act as a result of ignorance. If our schools are good, with a better class rooms and laboratory equipment’s in a green school environment, why should our children study abroad? Is time we make a change? Ubakala must be transformed. And for me, it’s YES what of you? Then let’s do it, we can, the ability is in us. Your little contribution for a better Ubakala will do our school and children good.
