To think a year ago I was getting college acceptance letters and thinking that I needed to go to college because that is what everyone else does after high school. I had the opportunity to go and thought that this is the only way I will be successful in life. But after talking with a friend who already enlisted and my recruiter, I realized that the Marines can help me in more ways than any four year school. The experience that I will acquire being a United States Marine in my MOS will carry on to the jobs that I wish to pursue such as homeland security and or law enforcement. Jobs in the Marine Corps such as communications, logistics, electronics maintenance aircraft mechanic and hundreds more go hand-in-hand with jobs in the world today and will give you so much experience and qualification for when you actually go and apply for a job in the civilian world .And as a Marine I have the same opportunity to get a college education but for free. Soon I will be taking classes, eventually working to get my Masters degree in Criminal Justice. In getting a job in todays economy I will be one of the most qualified because not only do I have hands on experience but an education as well. And also I have the opportunity to make the Marine Corps my career.But this isnt all about me,now I belong to a brotherhood that was created during the foundation of the United States of America. One 10th of 1% of the American population serves in the United States Marine Corps. I now belong to one of the most elite fighting forces in America and in the world. Myself along with many Marines have earned this prestigious title and I will carry out my duties to the best of my abilities to defend this country and to defend my fellow brothers.
