To those of you Asian Americans who are anti-affirmative action - TopicsExpress

To those of you Asian Americans who are anti-affirmative action but refuse to acknowledge that legacy bias is a far greater restriction on fair admissions for our community: What do you think about the implementation of a Someone Elses Turn law? Basically if your grandparents went to a school, you would be barred from applying to it. So every two generations, youd have a turnover of the student body, legacywise. It wouldnt address the need to solve for racial disparity but it would fundamentally change admissions (and incentives for colleges). It would encourage them to invest in giving the best experience to CURRENT students, not sucking up to legacies and alumni. And it would open up schools to more recent immigrants. If we have this AND reasonable diversity based affirmative action, wouldnt your concerns be addressed?
