To those of you that didnt know my LB Marion Raye Edwards, to those that did, then you know, nevertheless, I wanted to take a quick moment to honor his memory. For whatever reasons, I cannot question, Raye was silent when it came to EO, his LBs. We never questioned it, never once called him out of his name or anything. Well, if you knew Raye, youd know he had a heart as pure as gold, a laugh that could fill any room and a spirit that was joyful. He loved his wife, as many of us from Fall 1993 attended and had a ball. Raye loved everybody and was very committed to his job..he worked very hard, often too much. I remember him always talking about going higher up the corporate ladder, he was ambitious like that. I cant offer any explanations why he fell off the grid, other than the fact that he and his wife for the longest wanted to have a child. Well, I dont know if they did or not, but had they, they would have been great parents. Im not sure of he had contact with many other of our LBs from F93, but it doesnt matter, we all are linked the same. Today I feel the loss, my heart is heavy, I came into the group hoping to see a word or two of comfort, then I realized that many of you may have not known Raye. Forgive me if I am out of order, but I felt a need to tell you all about my friend. Had you have known him, you will proabably have called him your friend to. Looking back I wish I would have made a better effort to reach out to him, to just laugh and talk about old times. I see why its important to reclaim brothers, so much time is wasted and lost, so much potential for laughter/tears, joy and sorrows to share. Reach out to LBs, your chapter, your family and friends, for tomorrow is promised to none of us. I am sad today, Raye died alone as his car hit a tree, I wonder if he felt alone riding down that street that day, thinking about his friends that he hadnt heard from in awhile. I know Brock, LC, ED and Stacy may attend the funeral...If I wasnt here half way across the world, I would be there as well. I hope some of you feel compelled to attend chapter strong to his funeral. Not just cause he was EO, my LB, but because Raye Edwards was a good man, an Omega man and a friend! Long live Omega and her dear beloved sons!
