Today, 29th December 2014, marks the one year anniversary that our own tanguero Peter Greste, along with his journalist colleagues, has been imprisoned on false charges in Cairo... and that would be the 1st year of a 7 year imprisonment sentence, for doing his job. Unfortunately, Peter and colleagues Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed are the unfortunate scapegoats of an immense problem that goes well beyond freedom of the press in Egypt... and this is a global war on objective journalism (for more about this, John Pilger has recently given us a shocking talk: facebook/nairobi.tango/posts/825729110819380). We wish Peter and friends that this injustice will be corrected immediately... that at least good will come out of it, and that 2015 will be much much kinder... Heres a letter that Peter wrote from his prison cell just before Christmas... aljazeera/news/middleeast/2014/12/peter-greste-pens-letter-before-christmas-2014122684626564311.html Some other references: Free Peter Greste Kenya Journalists Petition for Release of Peter Greste Freedom For Peter Greste BBC Friends of Peter Greste
