Today, 4 months ago, at 4:21 am....Paul took his last breath here on earth. It has been a long 4 months, yet so fast. The first picture of Paul with his blankey is the last picture that was ever taken of Paul alive. It was taken hours before he passed away. In the days leading up to his death Pauls face had swollen to twice its size. This was the leukemia taking over his body. I had asked the doctors if the swelling would go away before or after he died and they said that most likely it wouldnt. About 6 hours before he passed I noticed the swelling was going away. He died looking like the Paul i knew and loved...not like the Paul who had cancer. In such an awful time...it was such a blessing and gift from God. The second picture with me holding him was at his last minute, early, birthday party. I dont know who took this picture but I absolutely love it. I can see the comfort he found in me. Paul and I spent almost every waking moment together since he was born. He was a mommas boy through and through. As parents we both played certain roles in Paulies life. Mommy changed the diapers, kissed the boo boos, made food, comforted him in the darkest of times....daddy taught him how to be a rough and tumble boy, how to fix tractors and cars, how to operate a tow truck, and how to drive mommy insane. This picture is a glimpse at my role in Pauls life. The last picture of him and I kissing.....this is a booger kiss. I have posted about them a lot but I dont think I ever really explained what they were. When Paul was really really little he would have runny noses for various reasons; teething, a cold, the weather, and so on. When I would kiss him I would wipe my mouth after and say ew boogers. When Paul started talking, after a kiss, he started wiping his mouth saying boogers. A kiss between him and I became forever known as booger kisses. I miss you more than ever Paulie. What I wouldnt give to see you again....
