Today Evan got his level placement for 5th grade (before the TCAP - TopicsExpress

Today Evan got his level placement for 5th grade (before the TCAP results are in). Remember when we moved here and he was placed in a lower performing level? We struggled because we did not have his NC test scores, which were delayed until October, so the counselor gave him a quick assessment test which he did poorly on and because of this one quick assessment, he was placed in level 3. As the year progressed Evan became bored in class, but was making perfect scores. The teachers asked if he wanted to change classes, but due to the anxiety from the initial adjustment, he decided to stay out, with our blessing. He read 75 books!! Next year he will be placed in level 1, which is the accelerated program at MRIS. I am not one of those moms who thinks her kid is the best, but I knew from day one that my kid had been placed incorrectly. Finally, he will be where he is supposed to be and I pray that he will make connections with his classmates. It has been a long school year. Yay for summer break.
