Today I am thankful for substitutes. I like to cook and try new recipes for my family. Sometimes I dont have the right ingredient on hand so I have to decide if Im gonna schlep out to pick up the needed item or if there is something I have that I can use in its place. Sometimes I try new recipes and after tasting the final product, I decide that I could substitute, or even add or subtract ingredients to make it better for my family. There are all kinds of substitutes we can make in our lives. A flashlight or candle when the lights go out. A reserve player when a starter gets hurt. A rolled up towel for a pillow when none of the hotel pillows feel right. The one Substitute that can NEVER be replaced by someone or something else is Christ. We cannot save ourselves... He HAD to do it, He was the ONLY One qualified. I am thankful He substituted His life so that we might have eternal life.
