Today I celebrate 10 years clean and sober. 10 years ago today, I was scraped off the streets after a 12 year run of hopelessness and destruction, broken and beaten, I surrendered myself to the glaring fact that my entire life was a wreck and that I needed to change. From the age 12 until 23, I couldnt string together more than a few months without some sort of chemical to help get me through a day in a world I was convinced I did not belong in. Through defeat and surrender, I was able to recover and piece together a life that might not be a story of success, but on of a life that is a complete contrast to the old, and often times way more than I deserve. My life is amazing today, and despite everyone telling me it would be, I couldnt even fathom it back then. Thank you to all of the people who have supported me throughout the years during and prior to this chapter of my life, You know who you are. I look forward to getting another day (and hopefully many more) with you. Thank you for being there for me. Nothing is more important to me than this day and my sobriety. Oh... and... hahaha.... wow... double digits baby!
