Today I finally got a chance to see the Icelandic film Either Way, - TopicsExpress

Today I finally got a chance to see the Icelandic film Either Way, upon which Prince Avalanche was closely based. The remake was very close indeed. I enjoyed both films. I’d been wanting to see the original directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson for quite some time, but it wasn’t available. In some ways I wish I’d been able to see this one first and then the remake. It would have been a fresher experience that way. Day 209 of A Yearlong Film Viewing Balancing Act. #yfvba I’ll include my Personal Kudo Season post here as well… as I wish to celebrate Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch for managing to bring these characters to life in a believable way in the context of the USA. Not an easy task. But they pulled it off. I appreciate their bringing their skills to this gem of a story so that it could find a wider audience. I know there are a lot of people for whom an Icelandic film with subtitles about 2 guys drawing lines on desolate roads in a barren wasteland just wouldn’t entice them. Their loss. Both versions tell the story movingly.
