Today I got a call from my neighbor to tell me that my 1 yr old female Maremma had gotten through a 5 inch gap and was outside of our gate. I leave work (10 mins away) and come home immediately. I call my dog and walk around looking for her for 10 minutes. She appears from out of nowhere on another neighbors property. I call and call and she just stands there and looks at me. I walk up and down the fence line to see if I can see where she got out, meanwhile shes walking up and down the other side of the same fence whining. I finally climb the fence (5-6 ft) and try to get her to come to me and she romps away like its a game. I finally am able to grab her collar and she pulls out of it. This goes on for 1 1/2 hours. At this point, I am so frustrated, I walk inside to all my husband to tell him that I need him to come home and help me and POOF - shes outside my door and acting as though everything were fine. My question is .......what just happened? Shes never done anything like that before!
