Today I had hopes that the drs visit would be good and we would get some answers. I should have known better. They increased his adhd medication. Every concern I had was blown off. Found out that he is getting backed up with poop again and that I need to call GI. To top that off the pediatrician wants him back in school. He is allowing us to keep him homebound until December but he wants Jackson back in school hopefully the last 6 weeks of school. He says due to his developmental delays Jackson needs socialization. Okay here we go. 1. Jackson doesnt care two bits about children his age. 2. Children his age do not play with him or talk to him. 3. He gets socialization. 4. Since when did socialization become more important than health? Jackson went to school 25 days in 1st grade...he was sick 9 times. Last year he did not go to school. He was sick 5 times. 4 times came directly from his sister...who got sick from bugs in school. I think going to school just for socialization is a big mistake. From an educational stand point if the kiddo didnt learn his alphabet and numbers in pre-k and kindergarten and second grade what makes them think he will learn them in 3rd grade by going to the school. If I am not mistaken does an EC class not have other children in class and one on one instruction is limited?? I am okay with him going back to school...just not right now. His liquids have to be thickened, he is still on a feeding program that requires him to be feed, he is combating dehydration and HAS to have 28 ounces liquids throughout the day. Since when can an EC teacher make sure he drinks, feeds him, and give him one on one instruction that he needs plus take care of the ec children in the classroom?? Oh yea Jackson isnt potty trained so he will need to be changed. Enough ranting on that. The GI in Chapel Hill wants an KUB done on him. So I guess we will head to the local hospital and get one done tomorrow as soon as the orders are put in. I am not sure what they will do if he is backed up again. He is getting his miralax at home and is having frequent bowel movements. I would like to thank Lori Mastrangelo for our whole foods gift card!! I will be close to a whole food on Wednesday and can get him some goodies then!!
