Today I have been told that the dispute at the hospital is that there is a fear that Dot would be causing cross infections and her beers could carry germs because she handled them. They where also concerned about the uncontrolled washing of the bear. So Management has told her she need to be a nominated representative of a registered charity. The Salvation Army would not give her the status the Hospital required because it would interfere with other work the Salvation Army provide to the hospital such as religious services. For Dot to comply with the protocol would make it to hard for her to continue. She made the decision because she felt management had bullied her into giving it away and is very disappointed. It makes you wonder after 27 years some one has decided that the is a risk to the patients. Now there is no deed to have disinfected teddies they only need to be freshly washed. The argument is that she carries an arm full of bears into the hospital and moves from one ward to another touching patients and then touching the bears passing on diseases.
