Today, I held a door open for a lady with a cane. She walked slow, and just putted along. My mom held the first door, and I held the second. She at first tried to walk a little faster. My mom said, You dont have to rush! Take your time. The woman was shocked, and continuously said thank you. When she got to my mom, she thanked her again, and complimented her on being young and helpful. When she reached me, she looked at me with such appreciation, and once again complimented my youth and thanked me for holding the door open. On the way out, we lined up again, and once again, held the doors for her. On her way out, she told me that its encouraging to her to see such a young person holding a door open for someone else. She was very sweet, I didnt know her. Im glad I made her happy, but isnt that common sense? Isnt that what were supposed to do? Help each other out? Be polite? Hold doors open, and be understanding that some people cant rush around. What is happening to our generation? If you see someone who needs help, elderly, strollers, someone struggling.. Take a second of your life and help them. If you see elderly people that need to sit down, and youre sitting down, surrender your seat for them... You probably have the strength to ystand, while they need a break... One day, you might need someone to help you as well.
