Today I learned that no amount of preparing, will actually prepare you for everything. I was feeling confident as the first day of school approached. I decided to get to school a little early to get a few more things ready. Good thing...because my car decided to breakdown! I was stranded on the off ramp of 95...just one exit from my school. Ok, I admit that this is were I cried. 1st days are hard enough. Nothing prepared me for this. I had to wait for the tow truck as I watched the seconds tick by closer and closer to the final bell. So much for greeting my students at the door. I was able to get to school a little after the bell thanks to Luke Cichon (pays to know a taxi driver haha) And while I have always thought my coworkers were amazing, today they showed me just how caring they are. So many people showed concern and stepped up to help me, whether is was getting my students settled, grabbing anything I needed, showing their support, and offering me rides (hopefully I wont need these for too long!) In the end, I had to wing a few things, and adjusted where needed, but in the end, I made it through this crazy 1st day of school!
