Today I spent about 7 hours among humanity (Santa Fe, New Mexico). - TopicsExpress

Today I spent about 7 hours among humanity (Santa Fe, New Mexico). That was my one-day-a-month outing for the July. There are many awesome people in Santa Fe: intelligent, educated, well-informed, artistic, bright, quick-witted, interested and interesting. Then there is the majority--- people like me: not educated, a bit dim of wit, more than just a little confused most of the time, unwashed, only thinking about where our next cheeseburger is coming from. Why are there vastly more Americans like me (the idiot dregs of society), than like the minority: the happy, productive, successful, sane, socially valuable Americans? In ancient Greece even the slaves were required to learn to read and write, memories poetry and ballads, play a musical instrument, and study basic history. What the bloody hell has happened to America and Americans, such that a store clerk cannot add two numbers together without using a machine (at the livestock feed store), or a city sign maker cannot spell "Right" correctly ("Rite turn only" while exiting onto the new road at Relief Route 599), or keep a small child from being injured by an automated door (Wells Fargo). When I see the majority of humanity is no better than I am, I surrender hope for humanity.
