Today I visited the site of RAF Membury, home to the 436th TCG. I drove up to the flying club to ask permission to take photos of the runway. The pilot I spoke to, said Ill do one better, why dont I show you from the air?... So he took me up, and I had explained that my uncle was a pilot with the 31st Transport group based at Grove. I said that they would bring the wounded back from France, sometimes to this airfield. So he actually decided to land on the old main runway, saying Your uncle done it, and now you can say you have too!! Needless to say, I was beaming when we landed!!
