Today I want to share my thoughts about Yoga with all of you, - TopicsExpress

Today I want to share my thoughts about Yoga with all of you, whether you are Buddhist or non-Buddhist, spiritual or non-spiritual, believer or non-believer, what ever you call yourself… anyway we are all human beings. The point, the meaning and result of yoga, whether it is Buddhist yoga, Indian yoga, or some other system of yoga, is to maintain inner peace within your body and mind. When you hug your friend, when you hug your family, when you say I love you, you give a kiss, it does not really last. You say I love you but those are just words that dont really stay, they feel good but the effect disappears after few moments. With hugs, it feels warmer, deeper and we cherish it more because it stays a bit longer with us… but still it disappears after a while as we are working or busy. Those activities do not really bring inner peace. What we call yogas are all those exercices that bring lasting inner peace to your body then to your mind, in fact enabling you to manage your mind. There are actually two types of inner peace: inner peace of body and inner peace of mind. Since body and mind are so closely related, each affects the other. I did a lot of yoga in three-year retreat, usually we do one time, but I actually did twice a day for two and a half years! From that I had some experience of yoga and I understood that basically whatever we believe in as real … ideas, structures, colors, buildings… all of that breaks down and what really matters is space in yourself and peace in yourself. The more precise you can be with your yoga from the body first, the more it will bring you possibilities to work on your mind. So if you care about inner peace it is important to do yoga, body yoga and mind yoga. And if you dont care about inner peace, then do what you want ! ~ Kalu Rimpoche
