Today I was driving around, and my mind wondered to about 27 years ago this month (probably close to the day) when my brother and I were removed from my Dads custody and placed in a emergency group home. We were taken to The Salvation Army Childrens Home in Kansas City. It was a sad, depressing place, but the people were great. I remember that the news crew would interview a different kid every night to get awareness out about helping kids who are less fortunate. Not long after we showed up we were interviewed. All I wanted that year was a blue bike. And from the kindness of strangers I got it! It was old fashioned, but it was blue and beautiful. I said all that to say- find a kid who needs a blue bike this Christmas, and get it for them. There are folks who take advantage (in my opinion) of the Angel trees for their kids, but there are also some that are truly in need. Find someone to bless this season. And if you cant buy a gift, at least give your change to the red buckets. As a kid who was supported for a time by that ministry, I beg you to continue to give!
