Today I was made to feel not just average but incredibly inferior. - TopicsExpress

Today I was made to feel not just average but incredibly inferior. I was made to feel an outcast, someone that doesnt belong in an exercise class, I was made to feel like the person who hasnt exercised for years and decides to take that leap of faith and go down to their local gym for the first time, and I can tell you its not a nice feeling. Because of this experience I will change the way I run my classes, and I would highly recommend other instructors do what I have just done, to give yourself perspective. We take our fitness and mindset about fitness for granted and assume that people are of a similar breed, this assumption should never be made! I would like to add a disclaimer; The way I felt today was not due to how the class/competition was run or the people that attended, it was my own demons that made me feel this way, and although Im not a crossfiter, from my experience I wont have a bad word said about it, Ive seen a whole new level of fitness and if anything it has spurred me on. But next time you see a new person in your class whether youre the instructor or just participating, let them know they did great, and dont assume theyre up their own arse just because they dont converse or smile, they might just be terrified.
