Today I went into the public library and read a book I got for Christmas for an hour. I owned the book and I did not have to go anywhere to read it, but just sitting in the public space, in the middle of the stacks, made me feel special, sanctioned and sanctified. My stress and anxiety were reset to zero. I guess Id say it was the secular equivalent of going to Confession for a Catholic. Thats my best simile. Whens the last time you sat and read in the library?
