Today I went to Chena hot springs and LARS(large animal research). The hot springs were 70 miles from Fairbanks and the road actually dead ends into the place. I spent about an hour in the outdoor pool they were feeding the hot mineral water into, and it was very relaxing. But after an hour I was ready to go. I think this would be a perfect place to visit in the winter, assuming you could get there. It was actually quite a complex, with cabins, hotel, large greenhouse, an ice sculpting house, horse tours, and hiking trails. Interesting place in the middle of nowhere. The LARS farm was right outside of Fairbanks and is part of the Univ. of Alaska. They have and study Yaks, Reindeer, and Caribou. I captured some pictures of them as well as some things I thought were interesting on the way to the hot springs, and some things they had there. Again today I passed 4 Moose, one that came out of nowhere and before I could react he turned back off the road and into the woods. Had he kept going in the path he was it would not have been pretty.
