Today I went to a listing appointment and when I asked if the seller was leaving the area he said, Are you kidding? We are here to stay. We moved here 10 years ago because we heard this was a special place with special people and thats exactly what we found. Our kids are gone, were retired, we have no family here, no reason to stay other than the fact that this is now home. We are not going anywhere. Contrast that to a seller I sold a home for last month whose words at one point were, This is a terrible offer but we are so ready to get out of this place well take it. Weve hated it since the day we arrived 4 years ago and wed literally pay just to get out of here. Neither of the families are from the areas predominant religion if you were wondering. Both live in similar homes in similar neighborhoods and have worked for similar companies. At the risk of sounding preachy Im telling you this for two reasons. First of all, life is what you make of it. Cliché I know, but true. We alone are responsible for creating the kind of experiences we want to have. Second, likes attract. If we find ourselves constantly encountering challenging and negative people and experiences, we need to stop blaming everyone else and look for areas to improve ourselves.
