Today, I went to officially put my papers in for the Governing School Board Member (GSBM) seat, at the Santa Clara County Register office. A special thanks to my family and friends both the personal ones and the ones on Facebook, for all your encouragement. This battle will be a hard fought one as there are eight candidates including myself in the upcoming election. All of the candidates are qualified for the seated position of GSBM being sort after. However, this is a significant time for a crucial conversion to occur amongst stakeholders, parents, students, and the community; mainly regarding the education of today for tomorrow’s future. There are many changes happening nationwide regarding the structure of education. These are changes that our school districts must be prepared to act upon, while ensuring the success of all students’. When changes occur within an institutional structure that is antiquated, the ones most impacted are the students of color, at risk students, and students with disabilities and not necessarily in that order. Therefore, we must make sure the focus lays where the most support is needed. This includes maintaining the provisions set in place for students that are already achieving at high levels. I do hope that each and every one of you will be a part of the upcoming crucial conversion for continuity, change, communication, and leadership.
