Today Nathan tried to run down the driveway, so I joined him and turned it into a walk and a chance to talk about where and how to walk safely. He slapped my arm all the way down the road because I made him stay on the side and stop in the grass when cars came. He wants to walk/run in the center of the road. Stupid people think Bell Road is a drag strip. Many also race along on Borden Road. The idea of him running down the center of these roads is truly terrifying to me. Sometimes just getting out of the car and into the house is a dangerous challenge. When Joshua and his friends come in and out of the house and leave the door unlocked, it is dangerous. Leaving the key to the door where Nathan can find it is dangerous.....Life with a special needs child isnt all rainbows and cupcakes; We face many challenges that most parents dont have to...or at least not past the age of 3.
