Today President Obama reaffirmed his commitment to fixing our nation’s broken immigration system. Following the Senate’s bipartisan passage just over a year ago of an immigration reform bill, which I have cosponsored, Speaker Boehner has done everything in his power to block the House from voting on this critical legislation. The Senate bill is by no means perfect, but it brings undocumented immigrants out of the shadows with enhanced border security measures to ensure the enforcement of our immigration laws. We must pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill now that will create jobs, empower small businesses and help strengthen our economy.
