Today, Saturday, May 10th at 11 AM Eastern on my radio program Vision For Christ/Radio Africa my topic is: Why Is Jesus The ONLY Way To Heaven? Listen again each Saturday at 3, 7 and 11 PM Eastern Time with a click on radiopanam/listen. Also, a new airtime has just been added to the schedule, courtesy of Radio PanAm. We are also heard on Thursdays at 1:30 PM at radiopanam/listen and again at 5:30 PM, and 9:30 PM to fit anyone’s listening availability or time zone. All times are Eastern. For those not already familiar, Vision For Christ is the radio/Internet broadcast that I do every week. This broadcast, that I write and record with Africans in mind, is on every Saturday morning at 11 AM Eastern Time at radiopanam/listen. Each program has an evangelistic thrust, though on a different topic each week. The same message is repeated at 3 PM, 7 PM and 11 PM Eastern on the Internet. The programs are also on shortwave radio, which goes much farther than FM radio and most Africans have easy access to shortwave radios. radiopanam/shortwave.htm The English in these 15 minute gospel radio programs that I do will sound a bit different to American ears, without English contractions, idioms, or slang. Many thousands of Africans across 18 countries speak English as a first or second language and can understand this simplified English text. We are getting mail responses from Africans hearing these broadcasts. Your prayers for the listeners are appreciated, for both their radio reception and the receptiveness of each person to the Gospel message. Radio Africa (West Africa) Wednesdays 7:30 PM WAT, or West Africa Time, (GMT +1), 1:30 PM EST Radio Africa #2 (Southern Africa) Fridays 8:15 AM WAT, or West Africa Time, (GMT +1), 2:15 AM EST Radio East Africa Sundays 5:45 PM WAT, or West Africa Time, (GMT +1), 11:45 AM EST radiopanam/africa.htm There’s a new program topic each week. Each week, the program that airs on the Internet on Saturday is then repeated for shortwave radio on 3 different broadcast stations originating from the city of Bata in Equatorial Guinea en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equatorial_Guinea on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at convenient times for Africans. WHO LISTENS TO SHORTWAVE? While few people in the U.S. listen to shortwave radio, people in Africa listen to it frequently since all the radios have shortwave bands on them. The English language is widely and commonly used and understood by over 250,000 Africans across 30 or more countries. radiopanam/africa.htm will show you the countries covered by these topical Gospel radio programs. Shortwave signals are quite different. One transmitter broadcasting on the correct frequencies can literally cover a majority of the globe! Shortwave radio uses very high frequencies from 3mHz - 21mHz. The higher the frequency the shorter the signal (how the name shortwave was derived). These short waves of energy are beamed hundreds of miles into the atmosphere until they reach special layers of the ionosphere. The ionosphere is like an electrically charged mirror that reflects radio waves back to Earth. The reflection of the shortwave signal is known as sky-waves. These sky-waves can bounce back to Earth hundreds and thousands of miles as they travel around the globe. This is why a station broadcasting from the USA can be heard in Europe, Africa, Australia, the Middle East, and many other countries. Here in the United States studies reveal that more and more people are listening to Christian messages on their radio, television and on the Internet rather than attending a weekly service in church. Did you also know that 75% of households own a shortwave radio. Shortwave radio broadcasting is still the most economical means of reaching millions of people around the world; with its large area of coverage and the dawning of the digital shortwave era, more and more people are able to listen to worldwide shortwave radio stations. Today shortwave is the only medium that is not restricted by laws in the receiving countries. This means that you will not encounter governmental and cultural barriers……shortwave radio overcomes geographic, political and economic barriers. When broadcasting on shortwave radio you are reaching countless numbers of people who have limited or no access to the Gospel. Even in today’s world of ever changing technology we are always reminded by many of our listeners that radio remains to be their first choice of broadcast when using media in their spiritual learning process. Radio remains to be one of the finest and most economical ways of spreading God’s Good News to all areas of the world and to people of all walks of life. My gospel radio 15 minute broadcasts written with the African audience in mind are broadcast on the Internet at radiopanam/listen and “air” every Saturday morning at 11 AM Eastern Time. The same message is repeated at 3 PM, 7 PM and 11 PM. The same message from Saturday is on shortwave radio broadcast from Equatorial Guinea en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equatorial_Guinea on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at convenient times for Africans.
