Today, U.S. officials concluded that the North Korean government was behind the people who hacked Sony and threatened attacks at movie theatres who show The Interview (though the evidence against North Korea is flimsy, according to Wired, but I digress). In a statement by the White House Security Council today, they said The United States respects artists and entertainers right to produce and distribute content of their choosing. … We take very seriously any attempt to threaten or limit artists freedom of speech or of expression. So, this seems like a good time for me to post this link again. Its an account by a humor writer of how he was intimidated by Secret Service agents about the content of a comedy article he had written. While the U.S. and North Korea are not equivalents, I think its important to not lose sight of the fact that the U.S. is not quite the land of the free that it claims to be.
