Today a church group of 50 people came in to sing Christmas songs for the elderly at work... It was kids and grown ups and really sweet the residents loved it.. There was one little boy that was wiggling all over and trying to sing but you could just tell he was having issues the dad was holding his wrist and I could see from the look on the parents faces that the more he squirmed the more concerned that got... So when they were preparing for the next song I walked up to the mom and asked if I could walk the halls with him she blushed and said I dont think you would be able to handle him hes different. I said really he looks fine to me.... Reminds me a lot of my own son when he gets overstimulated.... And looking at her face she knew I understood I said autism right? And she feared right up... She said I could walk with him but he only speaks sign language so I said really and walked up and signed do you want to walk? And this lady lite up! She told me I was a blessing and him and I walked and had a fun time meeting the residents that were stuck in rooms, when it was over her husband and her both said thank you and gave me a hug and said not many people understand... I said well Ive been there.... :) its the littlest things that can mean so much! My heart is full
