Today a woman told me that when her son is born his name will be Hugo. Only its not going to be pronounced Hugo its going to be pronounced Hoo-go, which is the latin or Hispanic pronunciation. This woman in question is completely Caucasian. While I applaud her decision, I feel that this is as bad as naming your daughter Amy and spelling it Aeighmeigh. The problem is is this boy will never ever have someone pronounce his name properly the first time. I have a similar problem: My name is Brant, and I am constantly correcting people who call me Brent. It does get taxing.
